Memorial Day Weekend
My friends John and Celia Wetzel throw this really great party every Memorial Day. Live music, great food, really nice people. But the thing that really reached me this weekend was that it took place at a local VFW. I could not help but feel privileged to share the same space with these quiet, honorable men. My thoughts are with the ones who were not there. I worked this weekend. It felt like I worked harder in the last four days than I have in a long time. Nothing I can point to as a reason for it. Just a lot busier than I'm accustomed to. Hope it lets up.

Come out and play!
Hey, stop making excuses. Let's get to it. Don't let the spring/summer slip past you. You know what to do, you know what to ask, and you know what the answer is. So quit vacillating and seek me out.

Abrupt
Beg your forgiveness.
It may seem rude but...
It's the product of sleep deprivation, stress, deviate hours and way too many goals.
Sensory overload, the inability to juggle, distraction, not enough distraction,
Poor diet, the commute, health.
So yes, I'm abrupt and I'm gong to be that way for a while. Sorry!

What's in your wallet?
So we are standing aound in the parking lot and the conversation goes like this:
Mark: Who is that guy?
Pat: That is Anna's boyfriend Xavier. His real name is Louis but he wants to be called "X."
Tom: Anna's boyfirend?
Pat: Yeah he is an artist.
Tom: What does that mean?
Melissa: It means he has never worked a day in his life.
Mark: Serious?
Melissa: Seriously, never. Never even went to school.
Mark: Nice work if you can get it.
Tom: How does that work? No pun intended!
Melissa: Subsidised housing, surplus cheese, food coupons, and a lot of mooching.
Tom: What about the nice car?
Melissa: You don't want to know.
Mark: Ever see his art?
Melissa: Nope!
Tom: Well I hope he is good.
Melissa: Nice guy, just don't lend him anything.
Pat: He's bleeding Anna to death.
He comes towards us and we slowly disperse...

Uninvited
I didn't see him, but everyone in the neighborhood did. A black bear or the 300 lbs variety in my yard. I'll have the camera ready and keep you posted.
I have a new goal in life: To out-live The Rolling Stones!

The Journey Continues
I think I now know how Sisyphus must have felt pushing that rock. I stand halfway through a tunnel. I can see light at the end of the tunnel. But damn, what a long tunnel! Dark for the most part with no place to stop and rest. A stiff breeze coming from the exit. I'm not alone and that is comforting. I'm also a seasoned veteran at this. I know my way around this stuff. It makes me think of my days of running track in high school and as an undergrad. I still have the discipline, but not sure of my stamina. That makes the journey more of a straight line. "It's not rocket science," I keep telling myself. I need to look to others. See how they managed this feat. Lord knows I've faced more difficult tasks. I just feel really old right now. I'm hoping if I hit the ground running it will go quicker than I think. I'll just take it like a drunk. (One day at a time)

The Good News!
It's official. I've been accepted to the MFA program at WPU. It has caught me a bit flat-footed. I didn't think I'd be there in the fall. Not like I had big plans, just wasn't expecting it. Suddenly I feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think I'll go buy some lottery tickets. I'm feeling lucky. The Spring semester is over and I'm amazed at just how busy I am. But I'm OK with that. Not feeling direction yet but I'm sure I will soon. Now time for some image making!

Finals - Fear and Loathing in the Hallways
You have to love finals week. The last week of any semester is so dramtic. You can smell the fear in the hallways. People look and dress diferently too. I haven't see any begging yet, but I'm sure it's taking place.

Weekend
Saturday evening, Cathedral Arts Festival, too much champagne, but some decent art, big crowd. And it was the crowd that was far more interesting than the art. I was staring at the upper crust of Jersey City society. They are a very colorful bunch. Maybe even flamboyant. A lot of yuppies, a few politicians, suits, that sort of thing. But this is a good time. Slight hangover in the AM but nothing to write about. Sunday afternoon, the Tribeca Film Festival, this thing rocks! A must visit for now on. I'm inspired, you can just feed off the creativity, enjoy some really good cinema get to talk to the people who made them. Got to put something together for this next year.
